Disney Trip 2011 - Day 4

We just watched the “Remember… Dreams Come True” fireworks from our hotel balcony. Last time we saw them, we were in the park surrounded by 5,000 people and the minute the fireworks were over, all 5,000 of us tried to squeeze out of the exact same gate at the same exact moment. This way was so much more advantageous. Namely because we could watch them while half dressed, sitting on comfy chairs on our patio.

We were in line for Disneyland at 6:45 this morning. It was gorgeous and sunny out but it was COLD. We were using our Magic Morning passes which allow people to get into certain areas of the park an hour before it opens. We went straight to Fantasyland to knock out all the rides that always are littered with strollers and babies and all kinds of youthful panic. Apparently the 300 other guests that were with us for this Magic Morning decided to go elsewhere, because we were completely finished in Fantasyland within 30 minutes. We lined up outside Adventureland to be among the first ones to get on Indy when the park officially opened. Cast members kept squeezing by us and crossing the rope that kept us out of Adventureland. Ashley (our little public prosecutor in training) asked, “What are THEY doing?” I said, “They work here” and without missing a beat she said, “Well put me on some stilts and get me a badge!” I don’t know what was different about riding on Indiana Jones this morning, but I’m pretty sure I got whiplash and possibly broke my neck and severed my spinal cord - but it was so worth it.

2 hours later, we met up with Kenny for breakfast at the bakery and then headed back into the park. We walked in through the gates and promptly lost Jackson. Leah saw him about 100 feet ahead of us walking down the middle of Main Street. There were so many people surrounding him there was no way he’d hear us call. So we just watched him walk away. Finally, when the boy realized that all 6 of us were nowhere near him, he called me and ended up finding his way back to us and we headed over to see Great Moments With Mr. Lincoln (or as Ashley called it, “Unnecessary Moments with Mr. Lincoln.) Later this afternoon Jackson said, “when I got lost, I expected to come back and Mom would be sobbing, but instead she was like, ‘Hi There! Let’s go see Abraham Lincoln!” Sorry, Bubba. I do love you. Really I do. I was just excited to see Mr. Lincoln. I’ll cry about your disappearance later.

Today was just another perfect day spent going on rides, shopping, eating and laughing at each other. After about the 3rd day here, everything sort of blends together and you begin to forget what day it is and if something happened yesterday or 2 hours ago. It’s a remarkable feeling not having any worries or cares in the world and being with people you love.

We split up early this afternoon, I took a nap, Chad and Leah went to Costco and Kenny took the kids to the pool. Eventually, we all met up at the pool and watched the kids swim for awhile. Then we got ready and walked to House of Blues for dinner. Dinner was mouth-watering and I think we’ll be full for a month. I got stuck in the bathroom stall and had a terrifying moment where I thought I was going to have to gnaw my own arm off and survive on toilet water before I was rescued. I was really probably only stuck for like 45 seconds, but in that short amount of time, I had begun to plan my goodbyes to the family that I was going to have to record on my phone because there was no way I was gonna crawl on the sticky floor to get out of the stall. Or more embarrassing – call for help. Part of me thinks it was the 2 lemon drops I drank with dinner, but mostly I believe the locks are defective. I may sue.

We had fast pass tickets to World Of Color over at California Adventure, so we went there after dinner and got our places on the boardwalk. We stood for an hour waiting for the show to start and played “I Spy”, “Telephone” and some trivia games on our phones. It seemed like a big waste of time until the show started. I won’t explain it because saying that it’s a light show with water and music and scenes from Disney movies just sounds uncool and it was so NOT uncool. The picture above will give you a bit of an idea what it consists of.

After World of Color, everyone was pretty worn out and ready to go back to our rooms. Tonight is Leah and Kenny’s last night here – they’re driving back home to O-Town tomorrow. We’ll miss them. This has been one of our favorite trips to Disneyland because they were here with us. They’re so laid back and they go with the flow – they make good travelling buddies. Also, no one makes fun of me as skillfully as my sister does, or screams as loud as she does on scary rides. And those are two qualities I look for in a person.

Please stand clear of the doors...Por favor mantenganse alejado de las puertas,

The Niemeyers
